The law now says you are free to have your car serviced here, from new

You no longer need to have your car serviced or repaired at a main dealer, just to keep it in warranty. The law now says you are FREE to use independent garages, like ourselves.

4.34 Manufacturers have now dropped the specific contractural restrictions which tied the warranty to servicing at a franchised garage.

The government found independent garages to be on average 40% cheape, but with the same quality and service.

3.5 The DTI found that independent garages provide the same quality of service as the main dealer, but for an average of 40% less. See the OFT835 3.5.

Half of those drivers who found out about this have switched to using independent garages.

1.15 The restriction on servicing under warranty had been in place for a long time and past history continues to colour consumers' perceptions. 70% of consumers who still thought their warranty restricted where they could have their car serviced said that they would consider going to an independent garage if there was no restriction.

To keep your manufacturer's warranty you DON'T need to go to the main dealer for your servicing and repairs, and you DON'T need to use parts from a MAIN DEALER. The OFT has put this in place to SAVE YOU from having to pay main dealer prices, when the independent garage, and their parts suppliers, provide a similar quality and service for an average of 40% less.

3.16 The only restrictions are that, the vehicle must be serviced at the times or mileage recommended by the manufacturer, and that the workshop must use parts of O.E. matching quality.
